Question by Pi Man: What glue should I use to repair a broken side mirror housing?
I have a large piece that broke off a side mirror’s plastic housing. I’m looking for a suitable off-the-shelf adhesive product readily available in the US.
I live in a climate with sub-zero weather, and am looking for a permanent solution.
I doubt that Super Glue or Crazy Glue will last.

Super glue!!!!!
Its the best!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news: this one will be super tough to fix with commercially available adhesives. You are correct about the super glue- they are not intended for plastics and certainly not intended for outdoor applications. Not to mention, the reaction of the CA would cause white/cloudiness around the bond line.
adhering this in a climate where the part will be thermalcycled would lead me to tell you to use an acrylic. the problem again is that the best acrylics are not available to the general public. A methacrylate would also work well. generally, a plastic primer is also employed. this is a tough fix for even me (I’ve got access to all the special goodies).
You can try a 2 part urethane. this would also be flexible and would have pretty good adhesion to the plastic. go to a really good hardware store and ask someone for a 2 part urethane.
best of luck
