Question by charleneburgese: Residential Handicap Parking in Philadelphia, PA?
A person up my street has the handicap poles outside of her house. Her car has the Handicap PLATE so she parks there. My question is that my son is in a wheelchair but i only have the PLACARD that goes on the mirror. So can I park in that spot LEGALLY?? any laws on that. I also would like proof of your answers b/c i can not afford a parking ticket or a towing ticket. This lady will call the police, tow trucks, and even start scratchig the car in which she thinks is “her spot”. thanks

If the spot has been created in front of her house, if is actually reserved for the handicapped in her house, it is not a public handicap spot. You would have to apply for the creation of a spot in front of your house. That doesn’t mean the neighbour won’t allow you to load or unload the chair in that spot, but if you leave the car there, and they arrive home and can’t use it, they can and will have you ticketed and towed.
